Challenger.JPG John’s car is a white 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. It has a high performance 440ci Magnum engine, 4-speed manual transmission with pistol grip shifter, black vinyl bucket seats with houndstooth inserts, and a rimblow steering wheel.

John Ellis bought the car used in 1982 because it was identical to the car featured in the 1971 film Vanishing Point, his favorite film. A few months later, his wife got sick and the car sat in the garage for years, untouched, until his son expressed an interest in it in the summer of 1990, as he approached his sixteenth birthday. The two of them spent the next couple years restoring it, tracking down parts, cleaning, and tuning it. When he graduated in 1992, his father gave it to him.
